Dawn has given us full permission to tell her story and her journey of how she overcame her drinking habit, which in turn helped to reduce her anxiety.
"I have always drunk since a young age and I am not too fussed about totally giving up. However in the past 12 months I have noticed I have gone from drinking once or twice a week to every evening - it has become part of my daily routine.
I have always been quite an anxious person and I have noticed over the past few months my anxiety levels seem way higher, I don't feel great in general and I know that the long-term effects are all negative for me.
I am not wanting to never drink again as I am single and plan on socialising and meeting people over drinks in the future, however I just want to regain control of my habit and not feel the need to indulge every single evening."
From the emails we get we know that this is a very common situation. Drinking is not a habit for Dawn, it is a means to a very quick reward: relief from stress and anxiety, escapism. She doesn't have a serious drinking problem, but she is aware that she is likely consuming more alcohol than is good for her and she'd like to be able to spend an evening without feeling the need for it.
Frequent drinking can lead to feelings of low self-worth and anxiety. People think that drinking helps this. In reality it fuels these feelings. When you are feeling anxious, stressed or depressed, your subconscious mind searches for a solution and often turns to something that will help you to feel more relaxed in the short term. However, it doesn't always help you to make healthier long-term choices.
The best way to reduce a habit such as drinking is to program your subconscious mind into thinking you have always wanted the best for yourself, and you make decisions that are best for your physical well-being over the long-term. This is what I did for Dawn.
After hearing Dawn's story, I explained to her how hypnosis will program her into feeling like she wants to make healthy decisions and improve her health and it will also take away the cravings that keep dragging her back.
I sent her our hypnotherapy audio session and she listened to it a couple of times over a week. This was the feedback we received from Dawn:
"Thank you so much! I am feeling miles better. I listened to your audio like you said and I felt calm and collected. I understand my self-worth and I am now on the lookout for things that improve my overall wellbeing. I have been drinking more water than I have ever drank in my life and also have made better choices with what I have been eating. I really cannot express enough how fabulous I feel and I really could not have done it without you. I really appreciate all your support and will happily recommend you to anyone that needs help."
