”We were not just letting ourselves down. We were letting him down too.”

"We are George and Chloe, we are 29 and 32, and we live just outside Reading.

For years, we tried to lose weight together. We would start something, get motivated for a few weeks, then life would get in the way. The motivation would fade, the old habits would creep back in, and we would promise ourselves we would try again.

We were both fairly active growing up, so we never really thought much about dieting or watching what we ate. But after years together, we got comfortable. Movie nights with snacks became a regular thing. Takeaways on a Friday turned into takeaways on a Saturday too.

Slowly, the weight crept on.

We would talk about it, agree that we needed to do something, then try a new plan or a fitness challenge. It always ended the same way. A few good weeks, then a slip-up, then giving up entirely.

After our son was born, nothing really changed. Things did not get much worse, but they did not get better either. The shift happened quietly. Our focus moved from looking after ourselves to looking after him. We stopped thinking about our health completely.

Then one day, it hit us. Looking after ourselves was part of looking after him. If we carried on the way we were going, we were not setting a good example. We did not want him to grow up seeing junk food as normal, or thinking exercise was a chore.

For George, the thought that really stuck was wanting to be the kind of dad who could run around the park, play football, and take him swimming without needing to stop and catch his breath every two minutes.

We realised that by ignoring our health, we were not just letting ourselves down. We were letting him down too.
That was the turning point.

We came across the Ultimate Weight Loss Essentials package from Clear Minds and decided to do it together. We treated the sessions like an evening ritual. Once our son was asleep, we would listen before bed.

It did not take long for things to start changing. The sessions made us think differently about food. We stopped eating just because it was there. We started choosing meals that made us feel good, not just in the moment, but the next day too.

Over time, we completely changed the way we eat. We have even started learning more about nutrition, not because we feel we have to, but because we genuinely want to. It has become something we enjoy doing together.

The weight started coming off, but more importantly, we felt in control. The cycle of starting and stopping had finally ended. We had a new outlook on health, and it was not about restriction or punishing ourselves. It was about living in a way that means we can keep up with our son as he grows.

Now, we are thinking about starting a social media page to share low-cost, quick, healthy meals for families like ours. Meals for parents who are busy, maybe do not have much nutrition knowledge, but still want to do better for themselves and their kids.

We feel proud knowing our son is growing up in a home where healthy food is normal, where movement is part of life, and where looking after yourself is just as important as looking after the people you love."

We want to thank George and Chloe for sharing their journey. Their commitment to creating a healthier life for themselves and their son will inspire so many families.
